Totally spontaneous now, so this could change, but going with the gut, here they are

8-13-75- quintessential Blues for Allah Live

3-9-81- My first show and it is a doozy

7-19-74 Selland is so mighty grand

7-18-76 Best show in one of my favorite years- fantastic exploratory jamming without getting too spacey

4-6-82 My third or fourth show- and it was a doozy- predicted the minute it ended that the shakedown was one for the ages

4-1-88 My favorite first set of the shows I attended

5-2-70 This baby turned me on and dropped me out

1-22-78 A recent entry to my top shows, thanks to strat and purple gel- really wonderful post drums- maybe the last great post drums- see the post i write later tonight

9-11-73 Just because- great 73 example

5-26-72 Just because- really a great 72 example
tied with 7-7-89 my first show sober and a scarlet fire and blow away for the ages

some years are really tough to narrow down to 10, bunch of show from 5-15 are basically equal, especially years like 1972 and 1973...i'll have to come back to 69...lists are always subject to change

You're short on Aug '82.

4 , 8, and 10 shine.

You might need 5/23 as well.

Good to see the interest in a fine year though.

No interest in 1969?

William, Cliff listens to 2/28 & 3/1/69 just about every night. But never 3/2/69...

But Cliff thought if it can make Tells list, it must be worthy. So after thoroughly enjoying the sick Jam and scary feedback segment, Cliff must now acknowledge that 3/2/69 is every bit as great at the three nights preceding it. Thanks William!

Please try to join the cool Avalon GROK(s) this weekend, cush's picks...

Hey Cush, CLIFF & Arbuthnot: you guys GROK it well for Tell. My system is touchy about the chat room set up, and I am generally out of town and out of contact on weekends, except for momentary 'check ins' but I know you will enjoy yourselves...which Avalon shows are you doing? I can GROK them 'in isolation' (which means I will be contributing in some etheral non ethernet fashion)? I love those from 68 and 69...many a good one!

A number of supportive, appreciative comments:

1) You are utterly and completely insane.

2) You have a serious problem with deca-centrism. Why not top nine or top twelve?

3) Man, it must have been tough to pick your ten favorite from 1967, given how many shows you had to choose from.

4) I agree with your choices of shows from the 11/73 and 10/74 Winterland runs, but I think I'd also have to include 11/10/73 for the Playin' medley alone.

5) Kudos for including the 9/11/73 show from William & Mary. You are clearly an emotionalist. The Dark Star > Morning Dew > Sugar Magnolia brings tears to my eyes. Just thinking of the held Phil bombs with the subtle guitar harmonics descending into Morning Dew makes me weepy.

6) I agree with about half of your 1969 choices.

7) Your 1972 list perplexes me. How could you have so little from September, and no 9/21? That said, I suppose I should give a listen to the shows you list from July of that year.

8) I assume you left out 1976 because all of the shows give such joy that it was simply impossible to narrow down to ten. One could find ten in June alone.

See--eight comments! Not ten. Octaves! Octopi! Octagons!

1) Yes!

2) Twelve picks would be too easy & ten is difficult enough!

3) 1967 was easy, leave the sarcasm to Cliff!

4) There are dozens of shows not listed by Cliff that could make any ones lists, this is subjective!

5) 9/11/73 IS Cliffs favorite of 1973!

6) 1969 is very difficult, on any given day (tomorrow for instance), these lists might look different!

7) 1972 is not one of Cliffs favorite years. Some of these shows were chosen for particular Jams or suites of music. If you don't know why they are listed, you should check them out!

8) Regarding 1976, lets leave it be. Cliff is already taking enough shit from the >77 folks!

9) The purpose of this post is for Cliff to learn about shows that he has omitted, and to hip folks to shows that they may be surprised to see on Cliffs lists!

Cliff expected a "Bullshit" response from smi2les, he is consistent after all! Even though we all know that he is capable of much better.

Why do you respond to threads if you are not going to make a contribution?

I just responded to the years I like personally, can't jam-out right now....tunes are in storage, plus there's been issues of parts of sets coming and going if I leave the house........believe that, some one swiping dead shows, must be some new sting........watch out for top grade shows on the streets and nondelics,

so many shows not to like........./:>
